Itinerary:
1. Merdeka Square
Passing through the independent square area, the center of the Indonesian state government, you will see the Presidential palace, the Welcome Statue, and the Arjuna Wijaya statue.
2. National Monument
Visit the National Monument, a 132-meter-tall Jakarta landmark symbolizing the nation’s independence. The monument’s basement houses an exhibit of 48 dioramas depicting Indonesia’s history. Enter the independence room to see the proclamation gate, Garuda as the National emblem, and the gold-plated Indonesian map. (The National Monument is closed on Monday)
3. Istiqlal Mosque
Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta, Indonesia, is the largest mosque in Southeast Asia and the sixth-largest mosque in the world regarding worshipper capacity. Located in the city center, almost opposite the National Cathedral, the Mosque is also meant to be a symbol of peace and religious tolerance. (Istiqlal Mosque is closed every Friday, you can see from the outside only)
4. Jakarta Cathedral
In front of the mosque stands a beautiful Catholic Cathedral with neo-gothic architecture from Europe dating back to 1891. These two buildings become symbols of unity in diversity. The cathedral has a high tower with high windows decorated with glass paintings. Inside the church are three altars that together form a semicircle. It also has a beautiful old altar that reflects sound like a conch shell.
5. Old Town Batavia
This area was once the center of the Dutch colonial government. It has a canal and buildings influenced by Dutch architecture; therefore, it is known as Little Amsterdam
6. Puppet Studio
Visit a wayang (Indonesian Puppet) studio and meet a wayang master who will show you how to create,
play and explain the philosophy of the puppet
7. Mangga Besar Street
Heading to Explore Mangga Besar Street, famous for nightlife, and looking for street food in Jakarta. You can see cobra satay sellers and king of fruit “durian” sellers along the way. We also provide to taste of ‘Martabak’ as an Indonesian dessert.
8. Sunda Kelapa Harbor
Sunda Kelapa Harbor was the center of trade on Java Island long ago. This port is still operating for domestic shipping, with Pinisi (traditional wooden boats) lined up neatly on the port.
