B uilt in 1953 initiated by the first President Mr. Soekarno. Istiqlal Mosque is the largest Mosque in South East Asia. Besides being a place of worship, this mosque is a proof of harmonious life in Indonesia because of its location in front of the cathedral church.
Located in front of Istiqlal Mosque, The Cathedral build in gothic style dates back to 1891. It has high tower with high windows decorated with glass paintings. Inside the church are 3 altars that together form a semi circle. It also has a beautiful old altar that reflects sound like a conch shell.
Although construction was started in 1837, the Dutch authorities finally officiated the church only in 1939. Originally known as de Willemskerk, it stands in front of the Gambir station on Jalan Merdeka Selatan. The Church house on of the oldest organs in Indonesia. The Church is now renamed and known as the Immanuel church.
This Temple is consecrated to ceremonies to the dead, which are held during the Chinese Quing Ming. The temple building is divided into 2 parts. The front side of the building is the temple and the back side is the catholic church. People live peacefully and respect each other’s differences.
